What Is Holy Stone?

Holy Stone is a brand that was originally founded in 2014. Since then, they’ve become one of the most popular drone manufacturers on the market. This is largely because of their unique designs and affordable prices.

Furthermore, Holy Stone has drones that are appropriate for all skill levels. You can find something that’s right for you regardless of whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced flier.

In addition to that, Holy Stone’s products feature fantastic build quality and the latest drone-flying technology. No matter what kind of drone you’re looking for, Holy Stone probably has it.

What Does Holy Stone Have to Offer?

Holy Stone has several excellent products for you to choose from. Let’s take a closer look at some of their more popular products.

One of their more affordable products is the Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini. This is one is a great choice for children and beginners.

This quadcopter features six-axis gyro technology which allows it to flip and roll with the push of a single button. It also has three different speed modes and a simplified headless control mode.

The auto return is particularly useful because it allows the drone to return home whenever the battery is dead or the signal is lost. This drone also has a high-quality 1080 HD camera.

However, it also uses a 2K FHD camera with image stabilization. This lets you take high-quality images without camera vibration. Its intelligent battery also works for 26 minutes per charge, and it has a control range of up to 3,000 feet.

What Else Do You Need to Know in a Holy Stone Drone Review?

Obviously, there’s much more to learn in a Holy Stone Drone review. Here is some more information that might help you decide if these drones are for you.

How well does it perform?

Almost every Holy Stone Drone review we researched mentioned how easy these products are to control. Many reviewers describe these drones as very beginner-friendly.

As mentioned before, you can make the HS170 Predator Mini flip and roll with a single button press. Most of their products also have different speed settings and simplified control schemes for beginners.

On top of that, the drones with GPS functionality have additional features that allow you to control where you want them to go. You never have to worry about losing them thanks to their auto-return functions. You can also draw a route for them to fly or have them follow you.

Overall, every Holy Stone Drone review was very impressed by their performance. Check out this video for a closer look at how well these drones can fly.

Does it have long battery life?

Unfortunately, this is one area where Holy Stone falls short. Most of their drones simply don’t last that long. The HS170 Predator Mini, in particular, only has six to eight minutes of flight time.

Their more expensive products have slightly better battery life. But even then, the charging time can be ridiculously long. Some of them need several hours before they’re ready to fly again.

This is a common complaint you’ll find in almost any Holy Stone Drone review. While they tend to be great products overall, the battery life is a major downfall.

Almost every Holy Stone Drone review agrees that this particular model makes a great gift for children and first-time fliers. Therefore, it’s worth taking a closer look at what it can do.

Its three-speed modes make it ideal for people who’ve never flown a drone before. You can keep it on slow while you get used to the controls and gradually get faster as you become more comfortable. The headless navigation mode also simplifies the controls since up is up and down is down.

Its body is also surprisingly durable for such a small drone. It can still keep flying after crashing or taking a hit. And of course, it’s a lot of fun watching it do flips with a single button press.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a camera on this drone. But at this price point, you can’t really expect one.

The real problem is the controller. It’s a bit bulkier than you might expect.

Also, the battery is connected by a wire that hangs out of the drone. This is an odd design choice, and it can get pretty annoying. Nonetheless, the HS170 Predator Mini is one of the best drones you’ll find in this price range.

How We Reviewed

For these reviews, we used professional reviews as our main source of information. We also used the products’ official websites when they were available.

When reviewing these products, we focused on a few key areas. These include main features, ease of use, battery life, and image quality.

Our opinions were mainly informed by a combination of product research and professional reviews.

How Does It Compare to Other Quadcopters?

  • Headless security system enables players of any level to fly the drone easily

Naturally, a Holy Stone Drone review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the competition. There are lots of great drones on the market today. Let’s see how Holy Stone measures up.

DJI Tello Quadcopter Drone Boost Combo with HD Camera and VR, comes 3...

  • Sold by DJI Authorized Dealer, Tello Boost Combo with VanCityUAV Cleaning Kit
  • Little drone for kids and adults that’s a blast to fly and helps users learn about drones with coding education.
  • VR headset compatibility fly with a breathtaking first-person view.

The DJI Tello Quadcopter is a popular drone from one of the biggest drone brands in the world. This is a small, children’s drone that’s most comparable to the Holy Stone HS170. It features a high-quality image processor that allows you to take photos and videos.

Its corresponding app also teaches children coding skills by having them drag coding blocks to perform certain maneuvers. You can start flying by simply tossing it in the air, and you can make it do cool tricks by tapping on your screen.

Most reviewers agree that this is an excellent drone for its low price point. It’s incredibly easy to fly, and they loved how you can do tricks with a single screen tap. Overall, everyone felt this was a very fun drone to pick up and start flying.

However, there are a few downsides. It has a low battery life, and it has difficulty flying in any kind of windy conditions.

Also, most customers weren’t impressed by its app. Several people had difficulty connecting it in the first place.

Although it’s a very affordable product in its own right, the DJI Tello is still quite a bit more expensive than the Holy Stone HS170. In this case, your decision will largely come down to price versus features.

The DJI Tello has a camera and a handy app, but it’ll cost you more money. You’ll have to decide for yourself if these extra features are worth it. This video might help you find out if the DJI Tello is right for you.

Pros

  • It’s very affordable

  • It’s easy to fly

  • Some interesting features

Cons

  • Low battery life

  • App doesn’t always work well

  • Has trouble flying in windy conditions

The Potensic D58 is another good option. Like the more expensive Holy Stone models, this drone features GPS functionality.

This allows it to return to you automatically when the battery is low or it loses its signal. You can also draw a route on the app or have it follow you.

Additionally, this drone is equipped with a 120-degree wide-angle 1080P camera. You can use this to take clear photos and videos. It also has two antennas which give it a stronger signal and a remote control with a telescopic phone holder.

Most reviewers enjoyed this drone. They were impressed by how far it can go, and they appreciated its image quality. It even has a surprisingly decent battery life.

Most complaints were few and far between. However, some people thought this drone was difficult to calibrate. They also felt the GPS wasn’t as accurate as it could be.

The Potensic D58 costs essentially the same as Holy Stone’s intermediate-level drones. Both products have their strengths and weaknesses.

Potensic has longer battery life, but Holy Stone’s GPS is more accurate. Generally speaking, the two brands compare very favorably to each other. Click the video below to see just how great its picture quality can be.

Pros

  • It flies very easily

  • Takes quality images

  • Decent battery life

Cons

  • It’s difficult to calibrate

  • GPS could be more accurate

  • Long-life Brushless Motor--The advantages of it over brushed motors are high power to weight ratio, high speed, and...

Finally, we have the Contixo F22. Like other drones on this list, this drone has GPS functionality. It can follow you, take selfies, or return home when the battery is low.

It also has an adjustable, wide-angle 1080P camera for taking photos and videos. You can then upload these to social media by using their free app.

On top of that, this drone has video transmission within a range of 750 feet. It has a compact, foldable design that makes it easy to carry, and it comes fully assembled right out of the box.

Many reviewers were impressed by how portable this drone is. It’s surprisingly small when it’s folded. They also appreciated its image quality, and they loved how stable it is.

On the downside, its batteries are specially designed to fit this specific drone. Because of this, you’ll have to buy spare batteries from the same manufacturer. This can potentially make a reasonably priced product much more expensive.

Again, this drone costs essentially the same as a Holy Stone Drone. It would be an excellent product in its own right if it weren’t for its specialized batteries. Again, this can make it more expensive than it needs to be.

For this reason, we have to recommend Holy Stone.

Still, the Contixo F22 does have some good things going for it. You can see more in this video.

Pros

  • Extremely portable

  • Lots of great features

  • Decent image quality

  • Ready to use right out of the box

Cons

  • Spare batteries must be bought from the same manufacturer

Holy Stone Drone Pros and Cons

As you can see from this Holy Stone Drone review, these drones have a lot of good things going for them. They’re very easy to control, and once again, very beginner-friendly.

They also fly smoothly, and they calibrate easily. The GPS functions in the more expensive models also are incredibly handy and easy to use. And of course, they’re priced very reasonably as well.

The biggest issue is the battery life. Most of their drones can’t stay in the air for very long, and they take a long time to recharge.

Also, the image quality on their cameras isn’t great. Finally, their smaller models are a bit unstable in windy conditions.

Pros

  • Reasonably priced

  • Fly very smoothly

  • Excellent features

  • GPS functionality on more expensive models

Cons

  • Poor battery life

  • Low image quality

  • Smaller models have trouble in windy conditions

Are These Good Drones for You?

After reading this Holy Stone Drone review, you should have a good idea of whether these drones are right for you. At the end of the day, they’re simply some of the best drones you can find on the market.

Holy Stone’s drones are very high-quality, and they have a ton of features. And they don’t cost too much money.

The HS170, in particular, can make a great gift for a child who’s never flown a drone before. In fact, some might consider it one of the best quadcopters for under $100.

Even their weak spots are fairly minor. The biggest downside is the battery. Charging these drones does require some patience. But if you can look past that, then you have some really fantastic products to choose from.

K2 Coolers Review

If you’re looking for a K2 Coolers review, it’s probably because you’re looking for a quality cooler without spending a lot of money. Having a good cooler with you is a great idea for when you go on your outdoor adventures, and it makes an excellent companion for when you go bow hunting.

K2 is mentioned sometimes as a potential alternative to more popular brands like Yeti or Pelican. But can it really hold its own against these other brands? Or does it fall short of expectations?

Before you take the plunge with one of these coolers, there are a few things you should be aware of. How long does it retain ice? Is it made with quality materials? And of course, how does it compare to the competition? These are a few of the things you should know in a K2 Coolers review.

Comparison Table

What Are K2 Coolers?

K2 Coolers Summit 20 Cooler, Duck Boat Green

  • One piece roto-molded polyethylene construction for extreme durability
  • Extra thick insulation for maximum ice retention
  • Premium features such as padded shoulder strap, ICE vault lid gasket, POSITRAC lid latches, ENDURA integrated hinge...

K2 is a Louisiana-based brand that started in 2011. As you might have guessed, they specialize in outdoor coolers. Virtually all of their coolers feature rotomolding. This technology is a popular trend among coolers today as it allows manufacturers to make coolers that are both more efficient and more affordable.

Even though K2 is a US-based company, they actually manufacture their products in Thailand. This allows them to keep costs down when they’re creating their coolers. As a result, they’re able to make some of the most affordable coolers on the market without sacrificing quality.

Additionally, K2 offers a seven-year warranty on all of their products. So if you do happen to have a problem, you have plenty of time to get your money back.

What Else Do You Need to Know in a K2 Coolers Review?

There’s obviously much more to learn in a K2 Coolers review. There are some additional features to examine that might help you decide if these coolers are right for you.

What are its main features?

K2 doesn’t slouch when it comes to its main features. One of these features is pull-up latches that keep the lid tight. This is a unique feature as most coolers use pull-down latches. The lid also has a commercial-grade rubber gasket that keeps the cold air in and the warm air out.

Furthermore, this cooler uses a single stainless steel pin hinge to connect the lid to the base. This is a smart design choice since the hinge is usually the first thing to break on most coolers. The drain plug on these coolers allows you to drain the cooler with only a partial turn, or you can pull it all the way out to make it drain faster.

These coolers feature both nylon rope handles and integrated handles that are molded into the cooler’s body. This gives you a couple of different options when it comes to carrying the cooler. Lastly, K2 coolers have non-slip rubber feet on the bottom that prevent them from sliding around while you're driving.

How well does it retain ice?

Of course, this is the main thing you want to know in a K2 Coolers review. Ice retention is the single most important aspect you need to consider when you’re shopping for a cooler. So how well does K2 perform in this regard?

All of our research shows that K2 performs very admirably. Reviewers noted that this cooler will retain ice anywhere from 5 to 14 days, depending on the weather. Needless to say, this is pretty impressive.

Numerous ice tests also showed that it holds its own against many of the more popular brands on the market. All in all, you shouldn’t have to worry about ice retention if you buy a K2 Cooler.

Is it durable?

Almost every K2 Coolers review agrees that these products are incredibly solid and are made with high-quality materials. Testers put them through absurd levels of abuse, and they still will not break.

This is partially because of their rotomolding technology. As we mentioned before, almost every high-end cooler uses this technology today, and for a good reason. It creates extremely durable products.

On top of that, these coolers also feature three layers of insulation. That’s in addition to the extremely durable plastic that constitutes the body itself. And once again, you don’t have to worry about the hinge breaking as you might with other coolers.

What does everyone else think?

So far, we’ve been looking at professional opinions of these products. But what do the actual customers think?

Overall, almost every K2 Coolers review from customers was positive. Most people felt it was a great value when compared to some of the more popular brands. They also loved how durable it is along with its extra features. Additionally, many customers appreciated its ice retention. Several people said it retained ice for at least five days at a time.

However, not everyone was impressed with its ice retention. Some people felt it didn’t last as long as it should’ve and said that more expensive coolers retain ice longer. This was especially true for customers living in desert climates.

Some people suggested pre-chilling your items, which would help avoid this problem. Aside from this one issue, most people were perfectly happy with this product.

How We Formed Our Opinion

For these reviews, we used customer reviews, professional reviews, and the products’ official websites as our main sources of information. Some of the professional resources we consulted include Open Air Life, and Wide Open Eats.

When reviewing these products, we focused on a few key areas. These include durability, ice retention, and extra features. Price was also a major factor in these reviews.

Our opinions were largely informed by a combination of product research and reviews.

Checking out the Competition

Of course, any useful K2 Coolers review should mention the competition as well. There are several other excellent coolers on the market today. Let’s see how K2 measures up.

YETI Tundra 45

  • Will keep your ice… well ice thanks to up to 3 inches of PermaFrost Insulation and an extra thick FatWall design is...
  • The Rotomolded Construction makes the Tundra armored to the core and virtually indestructible so wherever you decide to...

YETI is the brand that all other cooler brands must be compared to, and the YETI Tundra 45 is one of their best products. Like K2 Coolers, this cooler has rotomolded construction that makes it almost indestructible.

It also features T-Rex lid latches that are made of heavy-duty rubber. Likewise, its rope handles are made of military-grade polyester rope. Furthermore, this cooler has three inches of permafrost insulation and an extra thick FatWall design.

Most reviewers said that this cooler is incredibly durable, and it retains ice for a shockingly long amount of time. Customers tend to agree with these opinions. Many people were pleasantly surprised at just how long their items stay cold in this cooler.

On the downside, some customers complained about how heavy it is. This can make it difficult to carry. Also, several people felt that it’s simply overpriced.

On that note, the YETI Tundra 45 costs virtually the same as K2 Coolers. At the end of the day, K2 compares very favorably to this mega-popular brand. Both have very similar properties, and it’s difficult to say that one outperforms the other in any significant way. Which one you decide to buy will largely come down to personal taste.

Pros

  • Extremely durable

  • Incredible ice retention

  • Excellent features

Cons

  • It’s heavy

  • It’s expensive

Pelican 70QT Elite Cooler

The Pelican 70QT Elite Cooler is another excellent cooler from one of the most popular brands on the market. It features two inches of polyurethane insulation and a 360-degree freezer-grade gasket. This allows it to retain ice for an incredibly long time.

This cooler also has a few unique features, such as integrated cup holders and a built-in bottle opener. Other features include three-inch locking latches, non-skid rubber feet, an anti-shear hinge system, and an over-molded carry handle.

Reviewers were very impressed by how long this cooler retains ice. They also loved the cup holders and the built-in bottle opener. Customers also loved its ice retention, and they felt its snap latches make it very easy to transport.

Once again, several people simply felt that this cooler is too heavy. Also, many customers had issues with it leaking at the drain plug. Unfortunately, this was a very common problem for most people.

Again, the Pelican 70QT Elite Cooler costs basically the same as K2 Coolers. In this case, we have to recommend K2. The Pelican 70QT Elite is a very good cooler, but the leaky drain plug is a very obvious design flaw. You won’t have this problem with K2 Coolers.

Pros

  • Lots of great features

  • Very durable

  • Excellent ice retention

Cons

  • Drain plug tends to leak

  • It’s very heavy

Finally, we have the RovR RollR 60. This cooler is unique because you’re able to roll it on nine-inch, all-terrain tires. This makes it extremely easy to transport. It also claims to retain ice for up to ten days thanks to its airtight gasket and thick, foam insulation.

Additionally, this cooler also comes with a dry storage bin. The dry bin features two separate compartments. Without the dry bin, this cooler can hold up to 60 cans and up to 20 pounds of ice.

Reviewers loved this cooler for its numerous extra features, especially its all-terrain tires. This obviously makes it very easy to take wherever you want. Customers felt the same way. They loved the extra attachments you can use with it, and they also felt it was a very strong, heavy-duty cooler.

Despite the tires, some customers still felt this cooler was too heavy for their liking. Also, some people felt it didn’t retain ice as long as some other coolers.

The RovR RollR 60 is somewhat more expensive than K2 Coolers. Your decision will largely come down to transportation versus ice retention. The RovR RollR 60 is easier to transport thanks to its tires. However, K2 Coolers retain ice for longer periods. You’ll have to decide for yourself which of these is more important to you.

Pros

  • Tires make it easy to transport

  • Lots of extra features

  • Very durable

Cons

  • Ice retention isn’t too impressive

  • It’s heavy

K2 Coolers Pros and Cons

As you can see from this K2 Coolers review, there’s a lot to love about these coolers. They’re ridiculously durable, and they retain ice incredibly well. They also come with loads of extra features that make them more convenient to use. And of course, they’re very reasonably priced as well.

The only real issue is that some customers weren’t as impressed with the ice retention. This mostly seems to be the case for people who live in very warm climates. Once again, we suggest pre-chilling your items to avoid this issue.

Pros

  • Great ice retention

  • Extremely durable

  • Lots of great features

  • Seven-year warranty

Cons

  • Ice retention is shorter in warm climates

They retain ice well, they last a very long time, and they have a great range of features. And of course, they have an excellent warranty on the off-chance that something does go wrong.

The only reason you might choose not to get one of these coolers is if you live in a warmer climate. The ice retention isn’t quite as impressive in desert climates. In this case, you might want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, these coolers are a great choice for almost anyone.
