What Else Do You Need to Know in a Holy Stone Drone Review?

Obviously, there’s much more to learn in a Holy Stone Drone review. Here is some more information that might help you decide if these drones are for you.

How well does it perform?

Almost every Holy Stone Drone review we researched mentioned how easy these products are to control. Many reviewers describe these drones as very beginner-friendly.

As mentioned before, you can make the HS170 Predator Mini flip and roll with a single button press. Most of their products also have different speed settings and simplified control schemes for beginners.

On top of that, the drones with GPS functionality have additional features that allow you to control where you want them to go. You never have to worry about losing them thanks to their auto-return functions. You can also draw a route for them to fly or have them follow you.

Overall, every Holy Stone Drone review was very impressed by their performance. Check out this video for a closer look at how well these drones can fly.

Does it have long battery life?

Unfortunately, this is one area where Holy Stone falls short. Most of their drones simply don’t last that long. The HS170 Predator Mini, in particular, only has six to eight minutes of flight time.

Their more expensive products have slightly better battery life. But even then, the charging time can be ridiculously long. Some of them need several hours before they’re ready to fly again.

This is a common complaint you’ll find in almost any Holy Stone Drone review. While they tend to be great products overall, the battery life is a major downfall.

Almost every Holy Stone Drone review agrees that this particular model makes a great gift for children and first-time fliers. Therefore, it’s worth taking a closer look at what it can do.

Its three-speed modes make it ideal for people who’ve never flown a drone before. You can keep it on slow while you get used to the controls and gradually get faster as you become more comfortable. The headless navigation mode also simplifies the controls since up is up and down is down.

Its body is also surprisingly durable for such a small drone. It can still keep flying after crashing or taking a hit. And of course, it’s a lot of fun watching it do flips with a single button press.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a camera on this drone. But at this price point, you can’t really expect one.

The real problem is the controller. It’s a bit bulkier than you might expect.

Also, the battery is connected by a wire that hangs out of the drone. This is an odd design choice, and it can get pretty annoying. Nonetheless, the HS170 Predator Mini is one of the best drones you’ll find in this price range.

DJI Tello Quadcopter Drone Boost Combo with HD Camera and VR, comes 3…

  • Sold by DJI Authorized Dealer, Tello Boost Combo with VanCityUAV Cleaning Kit
  • Little drone for kids and adults that’s a blast to fly and helps users learn about drones with coding education.
  • VR headset compatibility fly with a breathtaking first-person view.

The DJI Tello Quadcopter is a popular drone from one of the biggest drone brands in the world. This is a small, children’s drone that’s most comparable to the Holy Stone HS170. It features a high-quality image processor that allows you to take photos and videos.

Its corresponding app also teaches children coding skills by having them drag coding blocks to perform certain maneuvers. You can start flying by simply tossing it in the air, and you can make it do cool tricks by tapping on your screen.

Most reviewers agree that this is an excellent drone for its low price point. It’s incredibly easy to fly, and they loved how you can do tricks with a single screen tap. Overall, everyone felt this was a very fun drone to pick up and start flying.

However, there are a few downsides. It has a low battery life, and it has difficulty flying in any kind of windy conditions.

Also, most customers weren’t impressed by its app. Several people had difficulty connecting it in the first place.

Although it’s a very affordable product in its own right, the DJI Tello is still quite a bit more expensive than the Holy Stone HS170. In this case, your decision will largely come down to price versus features.

The DJI Tello has a camera and a handy app, but it’ll cost you more money. You’ll have to decide for yourself if these extra features are worth it. This video might help you find out if the DJI Tello is right for you.

Pros

  • It’s very affordable

  • It’s easy to fly

  • Some interesting features

Cons

  • Low battery life

  • App doesn’t always work well

  • Has trouble flying in windy conditions

The Potensic D58 is another good option. Like the more expensive Holy Stone models, this drone features GPS functionality.

This allows it to return to you automatically when the battery is low or it loses its signal. You can also draw a route on the app or have it follow you.

Additionally, this drone is equipped with a 120-degree wide-angle 1080P camera. You can use this to take clear photos and videos. It also has two antennas which give it a stronger signal and a remote control with a telescopic phone holder.

Most reviewers enjoyed this drone. They were impressed by how far it can go, and they appreciated its image quality. It even has a surprisingly decent battery life.

Most complaints were few and far between. However, some people thought this drone was difficult to calibrate. They also felt the GPS wasn’t as accurate as it could be.

The Potensic D58 costs essentially the same as Holy Stone’s intermediate-level drones. Both products have their strengths and weaknesses.

Potensic has longer battery life, but Holy Stone’s GPS is more accurate. Generally speaking, the two brands compare very favorably to each other. Click the video below to see just how great its picture quality can be.

Pros

  • It flies very easily

  • Takes quality images

  • Decent battery life

Cons

  • It’s difficult to calibrate

  • GPS could be more accurate

Finally, we have the Contixo F22. Like other drones on this list, this drone has GPS functionality. It can follow you, take selfies, or return home when the battery is low.

It also has an adjustable, wide-angle 1080P camera for taking photos and videos. You can then upload these to social media by using their free app.

On top of that, this drone has video transmission within a range of 750 feet. It has a compact, foldable design that makes it easy to carry, and it comes fully assembled right out of the box.

Many reviewers were impressed by how portable this drone is. It’s surprisingly small when it’s folded. They also appreciated its image quality, and they loved how stable it is.

On the downside, its batteries are specially designed to fit this specific drone. Because of this, you’ll have to buy spare batteries from the same manufacturer. This can potentially make a reasonably priced product much more expensive.

Again, this drone costs essentially the same as a Holy Stone Drone. It would be an excellent product in its own right if it weren’t for its specialized batteries. Again, this can make it more expensive than it needs to be.

For this reason, we have to recommend Holy Stone.

Still, the Contixo F22 does have some good things going for it. You can see more in this video.

Pros

  • Extremely portable

  • Lots of great features

  • Decent image quality

  • Ready to use right out of the box

Cons

  • Spare batteries must be bought from the same manufacturer

Holy Stone Drone Pros and Cons

As you can see from this Holy Stone Drone review, these drones have a lot of good things going for them. They’re very easy to control, and once again, very beginner-friendly.

They also fly smoothly, and they calibrate easily. The GPS functions in the more expensive models also are incredibly handy and easy to use. And of course, they’re priced very reasonably as well.

The biggest issue is the battery life. Most of their drones can’t stay in the air for very long, and they take a long time to recharge.

  • Excellent features

  • GPS functionality on more expensive models

Cons

  • Poor battery life

  • Low image quality

  • Smaller models have trouble in windy conditions
