Welcome to the Fun-Attic, here you will find fun games that are ideal for the entire family. If you are looking to bring energy to an event, get-together, or a plain rainy day, playing games can be the perfect way to do it. Everybody remembers the events that are lively and fun, and if you are the host that livens it up, you will be the star of the show.
In the preceding list we have compiled 9 of our favorite games. Pick and choose which ones will be right for you and your event. Remember that many of our outdoor games can be converted to indoor games with minor adjustments. If you enjoy playing these games please make sure to share them Facebook or Pinterest so that others can have fun too.
Most have heard of Jenga, most haven’t played a giant sized Jenga. This is fun game for any event. You can play in the house, on the patio, deck, or even the yard. It is relatively inexpensive to build (about the cost of 2 small Jengas) and easy to make. Giant Jenga rules: everybody takes a turn removing a plank. Continue to rotate turns until someone causes the stack of Jenga planks to fall over and yell JENGA! Here are the instructions on how to construct the planks.
This game is fun whether held as a competition or just pulling one another around the yard. Parents beware, once you start pulling your kid around the yard while sitting on the blanket they will be asking you to do it again but only faster this time. Get some old blanks that you don’t mind getting dirty. Each team has a person that is pulling and person that is sitting (and holding on). Have a predetermined finish point or line. On your mark, get set, go! First one to cross the finish line wins the race and potentially a prize. Make sure the yard is clear of any rocks.
Ok, captain obvious here. One of the funnest games in history is tag. Doesn’t it that just bring back the memories of you as a kid on the playground? Pictures of yelling, chasing, and laughing flood my memory. One person is “it” and that person chases anybody that is playing and tries to “tag” them as it. Once the person “tags” someone else, they are no longer it and they now have to run from being tagged again. The person that got “tagged” is now it and let the chase begin.
Hide and Seek
Again, it’s played often because it’s classic and fun! One person closes their eyes and counts to a predetermined number (example 100). While the seeker is counting everybody else begins hiding. When the seeker is done counting let the search begin. The seeker then begins to look for those that are hiding. The first person that is discovered is the next rounds seeker and the last person found is the winner of the round, presumably because they are the best hider.
Bottle Ring Toss
Just like the old carnival game. Find some bottles that are relatively the same size and keep them close together. Each player gets a turn throwing the rings on to the bottle. The player that gets the most rings around the bottle wins. You can color one bottle a special color and make it worth additional points. Easy to make and fun to play.
Funny face mirror
Each participant playing the game gets a mirror to practice making the funniest face possible. Once the individual has what they believe to be the funniest face, they must coach everybody else how to make that face. Make sure you have a camera out as you will get a lot of interesting pictures that will make for a memorable game.
Bobbing for Apples
This classic game can often get overlooked. Fill a basin with water and apples. There are two ways to play: the person that gets the first apple the fastest or the person who gets the most apples in a give amount of time. Both ways are fun and on a hot summer day the water will feel great.
Tug of War
Another game that is a fun play. This game is great for team building as well. Divide the groups evenly and get a heavy duty rope. Have one team on one side of the rope and have the other team on the other side of the rope. The teams should be facing each other. On your mark, get set, go! The team that pulls the other team past the center point wins. If you want to take this game to another level, make a mud pit. The winning team will end up pulling the losing team into the mud pit.
Capture the Flag
This is one of my all time favorite games because it is so fun. This game tends to bring my competitive spirit out and is ideal for a large group. Each team has a base and a flag. Each teams objective is to run into the other teams territory and steal their flag and return it safely back to your base. If you are within the opposing teams territory and you get “tagged” you will go to that teams jail. One of your team members can rescue you by running into the territory and tagging you and returning safely back to your territory. Only one person can be jailbroken at a time. The first team to cross into the opposing teams territory, grab the flag, and return back to their territory without being tagged is the winner.
